A smarter, safer approach to self-showings.
Modern renters expect flexibility. Scheduling a tour online and accessing a property at their convenience has become the norm, and self-showings make that possible. No scheduling conflicts, no juggling calendars, just a lockbox code and a chance to explore a potential home.
But unlocking a door is not just a convenience—it’s an entry into someone’s asset. Someone’s investment. Someone’s future income. At Blaze Real Estate, we take that seriously.
That’s why we introduced a new step in our process: identity verification before a lockbox code is released.
Why We Built It
In the property management world, access and accountability have to coexist. Traditional self-showing systems make it easy to distribute lockbox codes, but they don’t always offer the visibility and control that owners and managers deserve. Many platforms handle verification behind the scenes, storing all information on their servers with no clear insight into how the decision was made.
We believe if we’re responsible for the property, we should also be responsible for knowing who is entering it.
Instead of hoping a proprietary system is doing everything correctly, we built a process that gives us complete clarity and control from start to finish.
How It Works
When someone requests a self-showing, they do not immediately receive access instructions. Instead, we send them a secure link that guides them through ID verification. They scan their driver’s license, the information is validated in real time, and that verification is then associated with the showing request.
Only after a successful verification does the lockbox process move forward.
It’s quick. It’s simple. And it ensures the person walking through the front door is the same person who scheduled the showing.

Why It Matters
A vacant property deserves the same oversight as an occupied one. Knowing who accesses a property isn’t about suspicion—it’s about stewardship.
Owners have entrusted us with a valuable asset.
Neighbors deserve to feel secure.
Prospective renters benefit from a streamlined, respectful process.
The surprising thing is that legitimate renters appreciate the extra step. Many have told us it gave them confidence in the professionalism of the process.
Continuous Improvement
This system isn’t a one-off feature. It reflects how we operate as a company. We are always evaluating how to make our workflows more secure, efficient, and transparent. Sometimes that means adopting a third-party tool, and other times—like this—it means building something ourselves.
Our goal is simple:
Improve the leasing experience. Protect the property. Respect everyone involved.
We don’t need to advertise innovation.
We focus on implementing what works.
